Idylwilde Dam is used for hydroelectric power purposes. Construction was completed in 1979. It is owned by the City of Loveland. Idylwilde is concrete, a gravity dam. Its height is 57 feet with a length of 235 feet. Maximum discharge is 30500 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 205 acre feet. Normal storage is 43 acre feet. It drains an area of 277 square miles. The stillwater above it has a normal surface area of 8 acres. It can be accessed from a rest area on US 34 highway.
